Things Are in Motion: A Sacred Pause for the September New Moon

New Moon ceremony, Sunday, September 21st, 7:30 am Hawaii time

Sunset on Kaua’i ~ In the Name of Aloha 2025

Aloha Kākou,

“The sun, moon, and stars welcomed us, as we welcomed each other”. ~ Kumu Hula Puna Kalama Dawson

Just days ago, we completed our In the Name of Aloha 2025 ceremony on Kauaʻi and Oʻahu, and the images still take my breath away.

People came from different worlds and different parts of the world, gathering in celebration of one thought, one paʻu skirt. There was a place for everyone. A quiet respect settled over us all. Each person embraced the kuleana they received.

This gathering continues a legacy begun by Aunty Puna's mother—a vision set forth by the Queen to weave a blanket of peace around the world, bringing aloha to Japan and Germany in the healing after World War II.

That legacy lives on in us.

Today, our hālau stretches across Kauaʻi, Niʻihau, Oʻahu, Maui, Hawaiʻi Island, Germany, Japan, and the mainland.

As Aunty Puna reminds us: Things are in motion. Huge things. We are in a time of great transition.

Below are a few pictures. Over the coming weeks, we’ll share more glimpses from these ceremonies, each one a reminder of how aloha continues to ripple outward.

September New Moon Ceremony

A Sacred Pause at the Threshold

This September New Moon arrives at the autumn equinox, that threshold moment when day and night find perfect balance. Our elders tell us this is when the veils are thinnest, when the wisdom of both worlds can be received.

Indigenous elders from around the world will share their peoples' understanding of this sacred transition, and we'll breathe and listen together in ceremony.

Date: Sunday, September 21st, 2025

Time: 7:30 AM Hawai'i; 10:30 AM PT, 12:30 PM COT, 1:30 PM ET, 7:30 PM CET (Confirm your local time here)

Across the planet, others are also entering stillness and deep listening on this day. We gather as one of many circles attuning to a shared field of presence—a collective return to coherence.

All are welcome in this circle.

Every month, as we gather across continents and time zones, something shifts. The isolated becomes interconnected. The scattered finds its center. The forgotten remembers itself.

Your presence—exactly as you are—contributes to this field of coherence.

Support this Sacred Work

These New Moon ceremonies are freely offered to all. Your donations help sustain this work and nurture the creation of educational resources that preserve and carry Indigenous wisdom forward.

Every contribution is a thread in the blanket of peace we’re weaving together across the world.

Our Shared Impact

Every time we gather, our circle strengthens the preservation of ancestral wisdom, supports the protection of sacred territories, and creates bridges of understanding between traditions.

Your presence matters.

Let us gather in this sacred stillness. Let us return to the breath of our becoming.

E hoʻi i ka hanu. Return to the breath.

Warm aloha,
Your Kaiāulu ʻOhana
