"The illusion is separateness" - Catherine Murupaenga-Ikenn shares wisdom from Aotearoa
Aloha Kākou,
As we gather on this GivingTuesday, our hearts overflow with appreciation for Auntie Puna, Mamo Lorenzo, Pacha K'anchay, and all the wisdom keepers who guide our sacred gatherings. We're deeply grateful for our volunteers, translators, supporters, and global community - your presence creates the field that makes this work possible.
In Sunday's profound New Moon ceremony, Catherine Murupaenga-Ikenn (Ngāti Kurī, Te Rarawa Māori peoples) from Aotearoa shared a timeless teaching about appreciation and unity that perfectly captures why we gather:
It's about unity. It's about understanding everything is actually one, and the illusion is separateness... When we all do it, it aggregates to a lot of lifting consciousness when you hit that vibe of appreciation.
In this luminous teaching, Catherine reveals how the Māori word "maioha" (appreciation) contains the wisdom of clarity (ma), the moon (marama), legacy (oha), and the breath (ha) that connects us all. Her message reminds us that even in challenging times, we can consciously choose to focus on appreciation and unity, lifting the consciousness of humanity with each gathering.
Today, on GivingTuesday, we're called to move beyond the illusion of separateness. Just as Catherine speaks of deliberately choosing unity over division in Aotearoa, we're creating bridges of understanding across cultures and traditions.
Over 2,400 people have participated in our ceremonies in the past 18 months. Each gathering weaves another thread in this tapestry of global connection and understanding.
Will you join us in sustaining these vital bridges between ancient wisdom and our modern world? Your gift today helps ensure these teachings continue to reach those who need them most.
As Catherine reminds us, "You must know your worth." Your presence in this circle matters. Together, we're choosing unity, appreciation, and the lifting of consciousness for all beings.
Me ke aloha pumehana,
Prajna, Olivia, Greg, Jared & Kaiāulu's Council
