Tears of the Moon ~ A Reason for Hope

Life's Preciousness + February New Moon

Aloha Kākou,

At the January New Moon Ceremony, Kumu Hula Puna Kalama Dawson shared a heartfelt message on the preciousness of life and the Tears of the Moon:

…The tears of the Moon is really the visual expression of the Tears of our Mother Earth.

And so the reflections and the opportunity that we have to look beyond the tears is really the reminder that continues to come to us. Throughout the world, the elders are listening to the prophecies that were put into motion so many years ago, and carried over time, to the younger generations to ensure that we have this constant reminder.

Why the New Moon celebration? Because the New Moon brings hope. It brings a reality that there is the tomorrows. But, you know, mankind has not been kind. And because of that, we are again being reminded of the importance of what we do in our daily lives, and the people that we touch in our daily lives, and the people who touch us.

When we can understand that tears carry so much more of our emotion, our reality. And it is a way for us to hi’uwai - to release the things that we don't need - to acknowledge them and let them go. Because there is so much more important things to do in the moments that we do have.

So when we take the time, to not just listen, but to feel, to experience what has been given to us in our daily lives. The opportunity for us to do the best and be the best in the moments that we do have - continue to occur.

Our time here on Earth is minimal. Our time here in this valley of time, is minimal. When we can reflect on all the people who have been in our lives in the past, who are now beyond the veil, it is these memories that help to sustain us. And we will be memories for other people when our time comes.

Let us take the time to smile, smile at people we don't know. Let us bring joy to those that we are blessed, not only to be in their presence, but to be able to feel and see their pain. That is what is happening around the world right now is there is a lot of reflection. But more importantly, the sadness and the pain is real. We can help to turn that around with a simple smile, a kind gesture.

In these New Moons, we have the opportunity to bring hope to the present time. As the Moon wanes and the change happens, it's a visual opportunity for us to understand that the moments will continue to be this way. And we cannot change the past. But we definitely can influence the present and help to bring about what's necessary in caring for our Earth and our Earth's people…
