Nobody Is Born Higher or Lower | Patricia Anne Davis

New Moon tomorrow, Friday, April 17th

Aloha Kākou,

This Friday marks the beginning of our fourth year of gathering in synchronized New Moon ceremony.

Before we come together, we want to share something Patricia Anne Davis, Diné Elder, offered in March.

Patricia opened in Diné.

When I hear her speak in Diné, my body settles. Something opens. Even when I don’t understand the words, something in me knows.

Then she spoke to us in English.

She spoke of the four jewel nations.

White shell, turquoise, yellow, obsidian.

Each holds a direction, a season, a stage of life. Each is equally a child of creator within creation.

“Nobody is born higher or lower.”

She reminded us:

Sunrise, noon, evening, midnight.
Spring, summer, fall, winter.
Child, youth, adult, elder.

Nothing stands above or below.

“It is not a line from birth to death. It is the circle of eternity.”

She called this a correction we are still learning to make. A return to alignment with the laws that govern us all equally.

In her tradition, there is no word for ceremony.

There is only this:

To sing people into alignment with their sacred self-identity.

This is what we come for. The singing does what we cannot do alone.

She closed with a simple reminder:

“The new moon ceremony is the symbol of new beginnings and planting seed ideas.”

If you feel called, you can listen to her full sharing above.

If You Feel Called To Continue

The Ancestral Wisdom Collective follows the rhythm of the moon through ongoing gatherings with Indigenous Elders.

It is a space for those who want to stay in practice, in relationship, and in rhythm with this work.

You are warmly welcome in this circle.
